General Motors In a desperate move to keep the ‘Pontiac’ brand alive GM turned to Australia based car manufacturer Holden for some ideas, what resulted was slight body modifications to the Holden Commodore and its re-badging to the Pontiac G8.

After the Pontiac went completely belly up mid-2009 there was news that the Commodore would again be re-badged, this time as the Chevrolet Caprice. However this did not happen. Instead GM decided to import the Holden Statesman and rebadge that as the Chevrolet Caprice, which they also plan on selling to American based police forces in 2011.
